I love creating art and teaching art. In my artwork, my starting points are everyday materials and encounters in daily life. My choice of artists' books as my primary art form reflects my view of life as narrative. In my workshops, I am excited by how different participants take the same information, incorporate it into their work, and create art that is uniquely theirs.

"Thank you for a great workshop. It was extremely invigorating and my brain hasn't stopped working on new book ideas since!" - Peter Maher, Art Director and Book Designer
"In a short workshop I adopted creative tools that have since helped me to move quickly into a more adventurous artistic process. Mira's generosity in sharing her creative experience has also helped me to take a simple idea to unexpected places." -
Marina Dempster, Visual Artist
"Mira introduced key concepts such as pacing, contrast, and rhythm... We considered the range of structural and design elements and how they relate to a book's content to create an engaging work of art." - Anne Carbert, Visual Artist, in the Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artists Guild Newsletter,
Winter 2005 issue
I provide both technical and conceptual information to expand participants' options for art making. A wide variety of artists and craftspeople benefit from my slide talks, one-day, weekend, and weeklong workshops.
